Valley Girls Vintage Market and Red Door Farm held their vintage sales this past Saturday.  What a lovely day!!  My daughter and I headed out from Maple Ridge in time to be there for the 10:00 opening…..ok, so we got there before 10, I admit I love being first in line!!  Rain was forecasted but it turned out to be a beautiful day to visit all these wonderful vendors!!  Our first stop was the Valley Girls Vintage Market.  Frances, from  The Nostalgic Nest hosted the market in her gorgeous backyard.  It was a perfect setting for it!   Everyone was so cheery, and all the vendors had wonderful treasures ready and waiting for shoppers to arrive.

Well hopefully you had a chance to make it out to these sales and do a little shopping of your own….but if not you will have a chance to see many of these wonderful vendors in September at The Olde Farmhouse Vintage Market!!!  (https://www.facebook.com/events/148745518651654/?ref=22)

Thank you everyone for a wonderful Saturday filled with treasures and good company!!!

Over the weekend, I (Barb) was able to treat myself to Aroka Vintage’s Grand Opening and Market, and what a wonderful treat it was!! Dawna’s store is in the cutest vintage home with a beautiful garden area, perfect for the market. It was chilly, but the rain held off so everyone was able to take their time and enjoy.

Each vendor had beautiful items and displays, there really was something there for everyone!! And to top it all off there was lemonade, popcorn and cotton candy!!! Yummy!!

For those who may not know, Aroka Vintage is located at 2231 Clarke Street in Port Moody. If you have not been there yet, you really need to find some time to drop in!!

We love chalkboards…alot!! There are so many things that you can use to turn into one, and we have been busy doing just that.

For this old cabinet door we used Memphis Blue from CeCe Cauldwell on the frame. We are so happy with how it turned out!!

This one was a mirror, but don’t you think it looks better as a chalkboard?!! There are more that we have, but we are saving them for you to see at the market. It is getting closer and we are busy getting everything ready for you. Hope you have June 23rd marked on your calendar!!

Fabulous Friday

May 4th, 2012 | Posted by Leah in Projects | Re Purpose Re Use - (0 Comments)

We think Fabulous Fridays might be on going…and it makes sure we post at least once a week!! Sorry that we are still getting used to all of this, the blogging “bug” will catch us soon:)

Between “junking” and painting projects, our houses are starting to overflow. Leah’s mother-in-law arrived from Manitoba last week, with a car load full of treasures for the market!! The prairies have so many treasures and one of a kind finds,  we are happy that she chose to drive instead of fly. Sorry that we did not take a picture before we unloaded, way to excited!!

Speaking of pictures, we do have some of one of the projects we worked on this week.

Leah’s daughter helping her out, never to early to teach how to re purpose things!!

What do you think? Another project completed and checked off the list!!

The Painting Begins…

April 17th, 2012 | Posted by Leah in Projects | Re Purpose Re Use - (3 Comments)

In the last week we have been able to “squeeze” in some time to start working on our projects! It also gave us a chance to use a new style of paint for us.  We started with a small side table, some cutting boards and a paper towel holder.

There are so many fun colours to choose from, but for these projects we chose Vintage White.

You do not need to strip or sand your project before you paint!! So exciting !! Their clear wax was not sticky and buffed up beautifully. We are so happy with how our items have turned out, you really need to try it !!

This is going to be the start of a beautiful relationship with CeCe Caldwell paints!! We are having so much fun using this paint on our projects. It covers wonderfully, is easy to work with and the best part…no VOC’s, non-toxic and no odor. For more information about this amazing paint and a list of all their colors and products check out www.cececaldwells.com.
