Valley Girls Vintage Market and Red Door Farm held their vintage sales this past Saturday.  What a lovely day!!  My daughter and I headed out from Maple Ridge in time to be there for the 10:00 opening…..ok, so we got there before 10, I admit I love being first in line!!  Rain was forecasted but it turned out to be a beautiful day to visit all these wonderful vendors!!  Our first stop was the Valley Girls Vintage Market.  Frances, from  The Nostalgic Nest hosted the market in her gorgeous backyard.  It was a perfect setting for it!   Everyone was so cheery, and all the vendors had wonderful treasures ready and waiting for shoppers to arrive.

A Step Back In Time

August 23rd, 2013 | Posted by Leah in Road Trips | Summer Fun | Vintage Market - (14 Comments)

This week I stepped back in time and  went to Burnaby Heritage Village….in Burnaby, BC.  I have decided yet again, that I love the 1920’s!!  The houses are just my style….with running water and electricity of course!! LOL!!  If you have never been to the village before, I would highly recommend you go!!  They have it set up like a small town, and you go into homes, stores, a school house, movie theatre, real estate office, barber shop, ice cream parlor, post office, etc.  They also have a trolly to walk through and a carousal for the kids (and adults) to ride!!

Here are some pictures that I took along the way….

IMG_0107

Isn’t this the cutest house??  It was originally built on this site in the 1920’s and was deemed quite fancy as it had electricity and indoor plumbing.

IMG_0117

I love all the built in cabinets in the dining room and living room!  This was considered a formal dining room.  The men had to wear a suit and tie, dresses for the woman and  the children had to wear their best clothes to eat dinner in this room.

What would your favorite item be?? So many great things on these shelves!!

Don’t forget to stop into The Ice Cream Parlor for a cool treat!!

Walking through all the shops and homes in Burnaby Village has gotten me so excited for The Olde Farmhouse Vintage Market!!!  I can not wait to see what wonderful treasures all the vendors are bringing with them!!  I know for sure that I will be doing some shopping myself, to add to my favorite collections at home.  Do you have a collection of something at home?  What will you be shopping for on September 28th??

Oregon Coast

July 22nd, 2013 | Posted by Leah in Junking Journey | Summer Fun - (3 Comments)

This last week my family and I headed down to the Oregon Coast for a camping trip.  Well, maybe you can’t quite call it camping….glamping maybe??  It actually was an RV park that we stayed at in Cannon Beach and it was the best of both worlds.  We had a site that even though we had full service, still had a campfire pit, grass, nice big trees and a picnic table.  We still cooked our dinner on a bbq and ate outside and roasted marshmellows at night around a wonderful campfire.  But…the added feature, which the kids loved, was the indoor pool!!  And my husband and I loved the indoor hot tub!!  Nice hot showers, laundry and a little store, upped us from our typical, more rustic style of camping.  Everyday we biked around Cannon Beach, checked out the shops, had some ice cream, played at the playground and of course….hung out on the beautiful beaches!! On our way home from Cannon Beach, we had to make a stop…at least one junking stop for me please!!  There were some great things to look at!! And of course I had to bring a few things home with me.  Thank goodness for the camper…with the back of the truck full with our gear, the only empty place was inside the camper!! What ever it takes!!  Find treasures….must bring them home!! LOL!!

It was so hard choosing what to get…I only had room for a few finds… I guess there’s always next time!!
